Smell the PoetryThere you are, pushing open the door, Guitar on your back, your hand on the strap, Hazel eyes scanning the room as you step in. I lose my voice and hide behind the soundboard, Heart pounding, shaking me, head to toe. You greet our friends, make your rounds, Unload the gear, take requests for the set list… Finally you spot me and slip through the crowd. Hot lead flashes down my spine and I blush, Afraid you’ll smell the poetry on my breath.Smell the Poetry
